Wabash Area Vocational Enterprises (WAVE) was started in 1973 by parents of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. They wanted there to be services in the community that would provide meaningful activities, inclusion, opportunities and choices for their children. This was a new and exciting time.
We strive to provide meaningful activities, inclusion, opportunities and choices to each individual in order for them to increase their abilities to live and enjoy their life to the fullest. This has continued to be our main focus over the years. WAVE currently offers Community Day Services and Residential Services.
At Community Day Services, we provide a variety of activities that are aimed at promoting independence in everyday living and work skills. We provide leisure skills to assist in developing new interests and hobbies. We promote community integration as an integral part of our services. We focus on the abilities of each individual.
As part of our residential services, WAVE operates a CILA (Community Integrated Living Arrangement) known as Morris House. The focus of the group home is to provide opportunities for each individual to increase their independent living skills in all areas while promoting a homelike environment. Again, community integration is a vital part of our residential services.
