Air Evac Lifeteam was established in 1985 by citizens of West Plains, Mo. Their purpose was to provide air medical transportation for their remote community in the Missouri Ozark region. The company founders recognized that people in rural areas need air medical transport the most, seeing as they often live the furthest from a hospital.
The life-team is dedicated to bringing advanced medical treatment to those citizens in rural areas during urgent medical times. Recently the Air Evac Lifeteam crews in Effingham, Mattoon and Mount Vernon started carrying units of Type O whole blood on every flight. This will help those in need of blood transfusion as they are transported to an emergency healthcare facility.
